News at Red Door Gallery and Studio Liink

welcome back to this blog and let me introduce you to a few recent changes:

We decided to move the Red Door Gallery art show articles and show shots – anything RDG related – to the above noted page Red Door Gallery, the link to be found in the header and also tie it into the redgallerydoor.com site. Just to sort out a bit better what is the actual gallery work and the print work at Studio Liink – still connected as it is all under the same roof and ownership: SL is more a fine art production function and RDG a fine art showcase and art publishing venue.

Somewhere, hidden in all of this, is our overall concept, the pairing of fine art print work and fine art show work going hand in hand, seeking to make the most of modern tools and art venues, chasing after recent changes in the art market as they might evolve in front of our eyes.

On another note: Finley Fryer fans walking by our RDG window will notice the Finley Fryer sculpture “Stealth Angel” missing in our window, don’t despair! The statue and most of Finley’s studio content have migrated down to Davis for a sizable Finley Fryer Art show at the Natsoulas Center in Davis. We promise to have a Fryer statue back in the window as soon as the show concludes!

Make note for the show reception down in Davis on January 13th, 2012 7-9 pm

Exhibition dates are Jan 4 – Jan 28 2012.

We will see you there!

Don’t miss it, go to here for more information and also head over to James Gilmore’s The Jefferson Agrarian for a nice write up by Nancy Resler at John Natsoulas Gallery here

If I am not all alone in this ………………might it be a good time to create a ride-share hotspot, specifically for the culturally deprived amongst us?? I know I would be on board for any good excuse to hit the City and other culture hot spots for a good show and company. Let me know if others feel such a need and we could even make the RDGallery a ride-share hub?? Heck, just email me at studioliink@gmail.com if you have a ride, an itch to go and need/want sharers and I post it in my window!?? It is peak-oil times we live in, not at all peak-art times, not at all.

More asap – do let us know on your wishes for this site, it sure would be a win to have some feed back.

best and thanks for visiting us in 2011!

Heinz

A friendly tip to any of you expressing in recent days some interest in the Limited Edition “Stan” prints by Finley Fryer, most likely with this big show in Davis, the great deal we do offer for the first 30 prints out 150 aren’t going last too much longer. I will be writing a little more about “Stan the print” in the next days.

a little sneak peak at some Red Door Gallery directions for 2012…………

we will have a Cynthia Henderson show starting late January and have Roman Loranc’s commitment for an exciting photography show this summer, silver gelatin prints by a master fine art photographer / printer. Other then that – I am looking also into some far away places for some additional photography work to build the desired balance of contemporary art and photography in our shows, that will be the leitmotive of RDG show work for the future. These are truly the days of new evolutionary steps in the arts – a new era might have been past due for some time and we could call it post-post-post- something done already, ahh… or just something actually really new!??

Plus a little sneak peak into the future per se…………………….As a visual artist, I do feel like a puppy in a PetMart, endless possibilities in front of the nose. These are exciting times indeed. There were a few radical shifts in our history; from the discovery of the letter, the clay plate to scratch on, of the number Zero, the Guttenberg press, the camera, the photograph…………..not any and all of it as radical as the building of a (muddy) human consciousness through the internet, turning the world upside down and then again, a good springtime to all in this new “human2human” world.

Let 2012 be a fresh beginning with not too much old and outdated ballast on board. Business as usual just got us what; 2008/09 and still sinking with a tiny singular percent exception to this strangely odd rule!??
